1. My First born Granddaughter's School Choir, put on a             Christmas performance this year that was inspiring and really put me in the Sprit of the season. They were at Snellville Methodist Church , which is such a beautiful place to perform. I am so proud of her for the times that she and the others perform for us.
2. December 2007- I took a trip to the Porter Springs area, North of Dahlonega, GA. Stargel's lived in this area and I visited this area along with Yahoola Baptist Church and Lydia School < a restored school house> , just to see where they once lived. As you can see from these pictures that it is very beautiful there.

3. I regret to report that Ovell W. Stargel Cameron passed on 02-06-2008
   She was preceded in death by her Husband Charlie Asberry Cameron
   Her Father Milliard Erwin Stargel and mother Dora McCollum
   She attended  the Cave Spring, GA Reunions regularly
   Life long resident Gadsden, AL
   
4. I am happy to report that my First Grandson Shayne Michael Brooks
   graduated from Grayson High School Grayson, Gwinnett, GA on May 22, 2008
   and I am very proud of him
5. My oldest Granddaughter Mandi is in Middle School and she won     6 Awards this year, is a straight A student and I am also proud of       her
6. My Second born Grandson is in Day School and doing very well,
   I am proud of him also
8. I am happy to report that my son and his wife are expecting their      third child in December
10. As you can see I am a blessed man and I am very thankful for the people                family and friends in my life
9. On May 31, 2008 I attended the Hall County, GA  CANCER RELAY FOR LIFE             ALL NIGHT MARATHON with my sister Kathy who is a survivor. I am so                    proud of Kathy for the determination and strenght to fight what is most likely          the worst disease man faces
7. I also attened the graduation of my youngest Granddaughter from the         Second Grade to the Third on May 22, 2008 she is also very bright and I
   am so proud of her. She is home schooled by my daughter
11. On June 12, 2008 I attended my youngest Granddaughter's Dance Recital in           Watkinsville, GA. The show was great and I am so proud of her performance
12. On June 14, 2008 I attended a Father's Day cook out at my Daughter's house,         her husband's Dad was there also. Both of my Daughters and their children            were there, but my son and his family were on vacation in Myrtle Beach We          had a great time, I really enjoyed the time spent with them all
13. Cousin Thomas JD Stargel of South Carolina has made a book titled STARGEL-      my Branch of the Family Tree
    He has placed it in the following Libraries:
    Gainesville, GA
    Dahlonega, GA
    Greenville, SC
    Waynesville, NC <Haywood County>
14. It is a very good work and has pictures and a great deal of information. I                     recommend that you read this book
15. My Niece Nola Marie London Thomas's Son Tyler graduated from Pre-K in
     May 2008- Congradulations to Tyler
16.The Stargel Reunion in Cave Spring, GA is on July 13, 2008 this year, I hope            everyone can come this year
17. My brother Joey Barnes and his wife Terri were remarried  June 17, 2008. It       was an unusual wedding  - to view this event video click on this link
18. On Father's Day of this year I visited Jersey, Walton, GA the site of Stargel              Road. The descendants of Alfred Taylor Stargel lived in this area and it is a             dead end street beside the Jersey Post Office
19. At 4:01 PM on 12-19-2008 my son had his 3rd child-
   a girl- she weighed 7 lbs 14oz and is 19 3/4 in long
   and is beautiful,this makes me 3 beautiful Grand-              daughters and I thank GOD for them being healthy
Every time I think to myself, it can't get any better than this,

20. On Feb 13, 2009 I retired from driving for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid            Tranit Authority after 34 1/2 years- and I received a surprize visit from         my son and his family, I was happy to see them and to have them               share this special day with me.
Today I closed a very important chapter in my life and it was so great to have my son and his family to share it with me.

THANK YOU LORD- for all my blessings
21. I am happy to announce that my Aunt Jewel Stargel Smith has a new Great             Grandson : born on 03-02-2009 Bryson Gage Whitmire
     Congratulations to all the family
22.  I want to congratulate my son and tell him how proud I am of him for                 completing the Ironman 70.3 in Augusta, GA on Sept 27, 2009
He also had a friend run with him and his own fan club, wife, baby girl and two sons, myself, my wife, his sister-in-law's family.

23. I regret to announce that John Hoyt Williams passed on 10-11-2009- Hoyt was           the husband of my Aunt MaryNell Stargel Williams for 47 years. He was born
     on 05-17-1919 and will placed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in              Buford, Gwinnett, GA with many members of his family. Hoyt was loved by all         who  knew him, was an avid card player, the Atlanta Braves loss one of their            greatest fans
22.  I am happy to report that my Nephew, Joshua Lee Ryan Barnes and Haley
      have a son born 07-20-2009 His name is Riley Glen Lee, 7 lbs 3 ozs

24. I am happy to report that Tim and Amanda Smith have a new son born:

25. I am happy to announce that my Granddaughter Amanda Nicole Brooks has received an invitation to join the NATIONAL JUNIOR BETA CLUB- which recognizes outstanding academic achievement, exemplified worthy character    and a commendable attitude. Her Grandmother and I, are so proud of her.

26. I regret to info you that Eugene Talmadge Stargel- Elkton, Rockingham, VA               passed away on Dec. 17, 2009. He was 75 years old, born in Gainesville, Hall,           GA Veteran of the US Army. He leaves his wife, Jayne- Sisters, Nell
      Williams and Jewell Smith, 4 sons and several Grandchildren, nieces and                 nephews
27. On Dec 19, 2009 my 3rd Granddaughter was 1 year old
