She was born in 1903 and now lives in NC

At Cane Creek Baptist

Church in Dahlonega, Lumpkin, GA

6. I also went to the old Bryan and Stargel Cabin sites at Cane Creek. I had visited the old Stargel Place in Febuary, 2001 and this time I took my Aunt MaryNell Stargel Williams with me.

7. We saw the Cabin that was built by John Jones Stargel II , Grandson of John Jones Stargel and right across from it was the site of Richard Remington Stargel, his father, R.R's Cabin has been torn down and a house built in it's place. B.C. Bryan's site was a short walk beyond the Stargel sites.

8. The area was breath- takenly beautiful, with meadows, Mountain Laura every where, John's cabin was right on CaneCreek and he had it dug out almost like a lake.

are going to do a Memorial Service for

John Jones Stargel, William Cicero Stargel, Charles Wesley Stargel, and

Josiah Clarence Stargel on October 27,

2001 at Cane Creek Baptist Church in

Dahlonega, Lumpkin, GA at 2:00 PM.

14. I regret to inform everyone that Bonnie Nix passed away on March 28, 2002 in NC, her funeral was at Memorial Park in Gainesville, Hall, GA . She is to be buried in a Church Cemetery in Clermont, Hall, GA

15. I also lost my Mother- Mary Kathleen Nelson Stargel Barnes on March 13, 2002. She is buried at the Dahlonega Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Dahlonega, Lumpkin, GA

17. I regret to report that Clara Lou Stargel Owens born on May 18, 1911 passed on 08/09/2002 at the age of 91, Clara died after a 3 year fight with Colon Cancer, she was living in Rome, Floyd, GA She is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery Gainesville, Hall, GA

Her Father was William Emory Stargel

Her Mother was Ann Elrod

18. I regret to report that Aunt Julia Mae Stargel Buffington Conner passed on October 26, 2002. She was the daughter of Miles Jones Stargel and Josie Barrett Stargel . She died after an extended illness at the Lakeshore Heights Nursing Home. Funeral services were at Memorial Park Funeral Home and burial at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall, GA . Julia was my Great Aunt and I will miss her dearly. She was the last of her generation of Miles Jones Stargel children. I will always be indebted to her for all the great memories about Family, facts, pictures and Chocolate Cakes she made for me thru the years. Her picture is on my home page in the credits for help on my family roots.

19. MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW WALKED THE 60 MILE 3 DAY AVON CANCER WALK THIS YEAR AND HELPED RAISE OVER 2 MILLION DOLLARS . OUR FAMILY IS VERY PROUD OF HER FOR TAKING ON THIS GRUELING TASK FOR A MOST WORTHY CAUSE OF BREAST CANCER

A SERVICE OF REMEMBERANCE

in Atlanta, Fulton, GA

It was a Service for her child who passed at Birth

We wish to thank the staff of for a very moving Service. There were several other parents there for their children also.

21. On July 13, 2003 my Aunt Nell and I attended the Stargel-Bishop Reunion at Cave Springs, Floyd, GA . There was a good crowd there and I met some new relatives

23. We had a Memorial Brick Laying for my Grandson #2 who passed at birth, at a local cemetery and afterwards I released Balloons wilth a letter to him in to the sky afterwards. He will forever be in our minds and hearts.

24. October 27, 2003 - I regret to info you that my Cousin Thomas JD of S.C. says that the Stargel Cabin at Cane Creek has been torn down. The new owner is building for retirement on the property.

25. Oct. 25, 2003 My GrandDaughter #1 sung in the Choir at the Ark In The Park Festival at City Park in Grayson, Gwinnett, GA . Her Grandmother and I are very proud of her and she did a good job.

26. On Nov. 4, 2003 I attended the American Indian Festival in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett, GA, this is one of the many dancers performing there. I enjoyed it very much they had crafts, gifts and shows from their culture.

of Gainesville, Hall, GA . Wife of Joe Hoyt Stargel for:

Being accepted into the Brenau University Hall

of Fame for 2003.

The Hall of fame honors those alumni who have

made an outstanding contribution to their country,

state, community and the school.

Gloria graduated in 1950 and in 1977

31. On July 11, 2004 my Aunt MaryNell Stargel Williams and I attended tthe Stargel/Worley Reunion in Cave Springs, Floyd, GA We had a large group there this year and we really enjoyed our selves

32. I want to announce the graduation of my daughter-in-law on Aug. 2, 2004 from Kennesaw State Univerisity. We are all very proud of her who continued her education after 2 years of marraige and she is with child due one month after her graduation. We know how hard that was and we are so happy that her and our son could pull it off.

35. David Paul Stargel of Jasper, Pickens, GA passed 01/29/2005, he was buried at Cool Springs Baptist Cemetery. He was 76 years old and died of a blood clot after surgery

38. On July 23, 2005 my Aunt Nell and I attended the Walden Family Reunion in Dahlonega, Lumpkin, GA .

We enjoyed it very much, they have a nice reunion and lots of family attend. Although there were no other Stargel's there I did meet Carroll Ross <male> from the B.C. Bryan side and was able to get more info on William Cicero Stargel's line.

37. On July 9, 2005 Aunt Nell and I attended the Stargel-Worley Reunion at Cave Spring, Floyd, GA . There was a great crowd there and we enjoyed it very much . This was the 3rd reunion we attended and the Stargel's there are from the John Defore Stargel line.

Ovell Stargel Cameron was present and she is the oldest living Stargel on their side. She was born Febuary 02, 1928. Her Daughter Charlotte and Granddaughter Tina Kay came with her. They are in the process of starting a website and Family Tree project.

34. On August 2, 2004 services were held for my Cousin Hariold Buffington's son, Steven Jay Buffington.

Dr Kenneth Conner and Rev Paul Evans Officiated

Jay died July 30, 2004 at Spalding Regional Hospital following a sudden illness. He was 33 years old.

Jay was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church, Statesville, NC

29. On Dec 27, 2003 my Cousin Harold Buffington's daughter

Julia Elizabeth Buffington was wed to James William Brooksher Jr.

They were wed at the Arts Council Complex, George Mintz Hall in Gainesville, Hall, GA

Rev Kenneth Conner performed the ceremony

She wore her grandmother Julia Mae Conner's wedding rings attached to her bouquet.

<Betsy> was named after her grandmother and she was very close to her.

I remember , that she was at Aunt Julia's side most of the time when I visited Aunt Julia at the Nursing Home where she lived her last days.

Betsy was a school teacher, the last time I spoke to her.

39. On Oct 15, 2005 Aunt Nell and I attended a family gathering for the Dean side of our family

We went to the home of Betty and Howard Grindle and had a great time. In fact it was so good that we decided to do it again on December 03- while Uncle Gene was down from Virginia.

I was able to get lots of family info and pictures.

It was great ot see people that I have not seen in a long time and to meet some I didn't know.

All of the Dean's are great people and I am so glad to be related to them.

41. I regret to report that William Afford Winkler has passed on 04-16-2006 in Union County, GA . He was born on 09-23-1931 in White County, GA . His Funeral was at Cochran's in Blairsville, Union, GA and internment at Coosa United Methodist Cemetery

42. I regret to inform you that Barbara Ann < Bobbie> Stargel Britt born: 03-09-1943, sister of Jerry Malone and Opal Stargel, Daughter of Joe Brown Stargel passed on Jan. 11, 2006

46.My Aunt Nell Stargel Williams and I attended the Stargel Reunion at Cave Spring, Floyd, GA on July 09, 2006 Several persons did not attend and were missed. Charles Jones and Henry Fletcher were not able to attend.Jerry Malone Stargel had surgery, but his son Mark came and hosted the meeting

47. I am happy to report that Tim and Amanda Smith had a baby daughter Amberlie Bretta Smith on July 13, 2006 at 5:45 PM Tim is the Grandson of JewellDean Stargel Smith of Gainesville, Hall, GA . My Dad's sister

49. I have just learned that Aunt Julia Mae Conner's Grandson is in Iraq. He is training Police there. I want tell him how proud the Stargel family is of him. The Stargels have always supported our Country and are very proud of our family's record of service. Brian Buffington is the son of Harold Buffington and as of the last info I have he is a Police Officer for the City of Oakwood, Hall, GA

I regret to report that my Father-in-law Joe J. Gee passed away on May 02, 2007 after a brief bout with lung cancer .

He will be greatly missed . He will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, Hall, GA

52. On June 1, 2007 I attended the Cancer Relay for Life Event in Gainesville, Hall, GA

I lost my Aunt Julia Mae Stargel Conner and Father-in-Law Joe Gee to Cancer

My sister Kathy Barnes Payne is a survivor and we attend these events to show support for all.

53. My cousin Betsy Buffington Brookshear and her husband James William tell me they are expecting a new family member in Nov. of 2007, they already have a son Pierce born in 2005

57. We also went to the Walden Reuion on July 29, 2007

It is an awesome 3 day event and I have learned a lot about the William Cicero Stargel & Sarah Jane Walden family there.

The Walden's are a great family and they have such a great reunion, headed by Beverly Walden McDowell. They had slide shows, pictures, prizes and events for the kids and my favorite of all - Beverly does a costumed stint as a Ancestor from the past and tells family stories so well, that adults and kids are under her spell. It was held in Dahlonega, Lumpkin, GA

Thomas JD Stargel and Maxwell Center were also there, it was good to see them again. Their connection is William Cicero Stargel and his first wife Amanda Mote. Thomas like myself < my line is Josiah Clarence- brother of William> is researching all info we can find. He and Maxwell have given me very valuable info and I thank them both.

58. September 20, 2007

Today my Pet Dog of 12- 1/2 years passed away after a long illness.

Joan and I miss her so much, she was a friend, companion-loyal and

important member of our family.

59. On Sept 25, 2007 my daughter's pet Collie mix - passed after a long illness. She was 17 years old and they will miss her so. She is to be placed at Oak Rest Pet Cemetery where my pet is at.

60. I am happy to announce that James Cary Stargel's daughter- Kelly Adora was married on : October 13, 2007 to Sean Novias at the American Legion Gold Star In Mt. Airy, MD

61. Also on September 29, 2007- Melody Ann Stargel - daughter of Jerry Malone Stargel was married to : Christopher Micheal Fowler

at Vines Botanical Gardens- Loganville, GA

62. On September 06, 2007 Eugene Talmadge Stargel had his first Great Grandchild born: Hayleigh Alysee Stargel was born to Michael Ward and Mandy Tucker Stargel, congrats to the Grand Parents and also the new parents of Hayleigh

63. I am happy to announce that my Aunt Jewell Stargel Smith's great Grandaughter won this years Baby Miss Maysville Contest and we are are all proud of her. Congrats to her Mother and Father

I have never taken the time to thank Uncle Gene for his service to our country until now, Uncle Gene I want you to know that I am proud to be your Nephew and be part of the Stargel family that gives so much of themselves to service of Country, Community and God.
