Uncle Jay, as I always called him, did not know any strangers when it came to the Stargel Family. When he traveled around to visit and gather most of this info on this site, he stayed with Stargels that he had just met and then always when he was on a return trip, he always visited them. He researched Court records, old family members, Census reports, phone calls and letters. I have been to several Family Reunions since he passed away and everyone I met knew and loved him. I will always regret that I did not become active in researching my Family until after he passed away. We could have worked well together. Uncle Jay lived in Georgia with my Dad and and Mom for a short time after he returned from the
war. He met his wife Teresa in Rome, Italy during the War and brought her to the U.S. They lived in the Washington, D.C. area of Maryland for most of their married life. She died shortly before him and they are buried at Arlington National Memorial Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Jay was a hard working man with several jobs and retired from his main job after many years. He is known far and wide for his passion for family, country and GOD. Jay left home for the Service and my Dad his brother was turned down for a damaged ear drum. I am told that my Dad wanted to go with him and was very disappointed not to be able to go. Jay had two sons, Larry and James, and his younger brother Eugene ,who served in the military also. Jay retired from the Army, a decorated Vet of World War II Please visit the following link to see his very impressive record and picture.
