I met Jerry for the first time, years ago when he and my Uncle John Clarence Stargel droped by my home in Chamblee, Georgia for a visit. Until then I did not know that the Voice of the Georgia Deptment of Transportion's Jerry Stargel was any relation to me. And we were in contact a few times by email, then in 2000 Jerrry attended the Stargel Reunion in Gainesville, Ga. It was then that I got to know him better and I began going to the Stargel Reunion's at Cave Spring, Ga. There I met many of the Stargel's from Texas, Alabama and Tennessee.
Jerry had a long and distquisted career in Radio and the Dept. of Transportation. He served in the Military and he is a key figure in keeping the long running string of Reunion's in Cave Spring- on going. I think they have been every year since 1956. He is loved and respected by all who attend the Reunion's, including myself and my Aunt MaryNell Stargel Williams who goes with me. I am proud to be related to such a fine, outstanding man as Jerry.
