Joan only went to my home town one time and never went back, you see my Grandparents had no plumbing and had a out house on the side of the hill. It was winter and wind would blow thru the cracks in the building, it was a good distance to walk. They had a portable potty also to keep from having to go out at night or bad weather. Grandfather stored his pine kinling pieces to start his wood fired stove with in the outhouse. We used to all joke about how you had to prop up the quilts in bed to turn over, because it really gets cold in those hills of Tennessee at night.
