The spelling of our name makes researching very hard as to some used 2 ll's at the end and a vast array of the first four letters < Star>. This was proabily due to not being educated at the time of Census records and the Census Taker had to spell names as they sounded when spoken, for example one Census has the name spelled 4 different ways because the Census Taker nor the subject knew how to spell the name. During this work I have used the spelling STARGEL because that is the one my family has used. But I have found many relatives who use 2 ll's
